Webthe hierarchical-B coding structure is well-known for random access applications, the hierarchical-P structure is more appropriate for low delay cases. The pros and cons of the hierarchical-P structure are well presented in Reference [14]. The hierarchical-P RPS method generates a control picture upon receiving a feedback signal from the decoder. WebWe derive an efficient rate allocation for hierarchical B-pictures using the power spectral density of a wide-sense stationary process. In addition, we discuss important aspects of hierarchical predictive coding, such as the effect of the temporal prediction distance and delay tradeoffs for prediction branch truncation.
