WebDec 7, 2016 · Path-goal theory suggests that leadership is a process by showing leaders that they have to get to know their followers and get to know the common goal he/she has with them over time in order to know how to best lead them in the correct direction. This applies to each of the four components of leadership. WebThe Path goal theory was first developed by Robert J. House and published in the Administrative Science Quarterly in 1971 and later updated in the Leadership Quarterly in 1996. The theory was based on the expectancy theory of motivation, the claim that an individual will act in a particular way because they expect a favorable outcome.
